DATING AND COURTSHIP The Bible says in Genesis 2:24 "For this cause shall a man leave his father and his mother and be joined to his wife; and they will be one flesh." This means that there will come a time in a man's life when he will desire to move away from his parents and be joined to a woman who would be called his wife thereafter. It is instructive to note here that the scripture quoted above is the end of a process which started from the point of getting to know each other. Hence, the concept of DATING AND COURTSHIP. ' It is important to say here that the words 'DATE' and 'COURTSHIP' are not mentioned or referred to in the Bible. Again, we should also note that finding a wife cannot be achieved through physical, calculated or mechanical means. It is only God who gives a wife (or a husband)Proverbs 19:14. It is only seen as necessary for two people who intend to get married to get to know each other better. Though one cannot completely know another person no matter how hard you try, you should endeavour to use the period between when you first meet to the time you eventually get married to get to know each other. Within this period a lot of activities are expected to occur and we will be looking at some of them much later.
